The main groups of the Assyria's army were foot soldiers. They had spears and daggers for weapons. The other soldiers were good at using arrows and bows. There were also soldiers that were chariot riders. The chariot riders fought on horses. Assyria's army was the first to use iron weapons. First the iron was used for tools . Iron was too soft to use as material for weapons. People who lived northwest of Assyria were called the hittites; they developed a way to make the iron harder.
The Assyrians warriors tunneled under walls . They also used to climb over the walls with ladders. They put tree trunks on platforms so they could use them as battering rams to get the city gates down. Assyrians set fire to the captured cities and they took the goods and the people. They would run people out of their land and make them move into foreign lands. They forced the new settlers to pay very large taxes.

To rule an empire kings had to be very strong. From the East Persian gulf to the West Egypt's nile river empires expanded like you would do on Farmville . Nineveh was their capital, that was on the Tigris river. The empire was split into provinces by the Assyrian kings. Officials were chosen to govern each province. The officials collected taxes, they also enforced the kings laws.
Roads were built by the Assyrian kings so all parts of the empire were joined together. Government soldiers were posted at stations. They were posted at stations so they could protect traders from bandits. The stations were used by messengers on government business to rest and change horses.
Assyrians lives were like the Mesopotamians. They based their writing on Babylonian writing. Assyrians worshipped the same gods as the Babylonians did. Laws were also similar. The one thing different was they had more brutal punishments.

Problem/Solution-
Problem - They couldn't use iron as a material for weapons and only for tools because it wasn't strong or hard enough to do so.
Solution - People in the northwest of Assyria called hittites made a way for the iron to get stronger. The hittites heated iron ore; they had to hammer it and then cooled it down.
